Just wanted to follow-up on this to give an update for 2014.
For shabbos we ended up ordering food from Asi's Grill for Friday night. They were very accommodating, they allow you to order off their regular menu as well as the special shabbos take out menu, and also have challah and grape juice. They made sure to ask if we needed plates/silverware etc. They also offer meals in the restaurant for $65 per person. But we spent less than that for take out food for 3 people. Food we got (grilled chicken, schnitzel, rice, sauteed veggies) was fine but not spectacular.
For shabbos day we went to Rare, which is now a bistro instead of a steakhouse. They made sure to tell us how things worked right away - there is kiddush and fish/cake type products at the bar you take yourself and a big salad bar table in middle of the room. You can have as much of that as you want and then they will serve a plated main course with cholent, pastrami, chicken and kugel. Dessert is also plated and served, and they gave a choice of two. Food was generally very good, and if anything there is too much of it. Service was great, which isn't something you can say about all Miami places. But they were very attentive and quick to clear and serve.
