Traditions are important to continue when possible. I certainly wouldn't spend $125 or more for a frozen kosher goose. In fact I was shocked that frozen Empire Turkeys were $3.99 this year. Local live birds cost me $2.25 lb. I'm lucky to live out of the city where live birds can be bought from local farmers and a mostly retired shochet will still slaughter them.
It's important for my kids to know how top clean and kasher a bird. and using the parts such as the feathers is eco-friendly.
