I love using peanut oil, and I do use it year round. It has a very high smoking point and I find it to be very useful.
Interestingly, most people don't realize that people with peanut allergies are generally no also allergic to peanut oil. Commercially refined and processed peanut oil has had all the peanut proteins removed, and those are the allergenic substances.
