Thanks for the memories, Kosher Delight...

I was already an adult with a daughter in high school on Avenue J when KD opened. I first heard from her that she and her friends went there for lunch. I had to see for myself. How I loved it - it was so . . . American. Being kosher, my options for eating out were always limited. Except for the occasional deli, my mother cooked and we ate at home every day. Going out for a burger like just about every teenager on TV had always seemed far out of reach. It wasn't just the grilled burger I yearned for, though that was definitely part of it. It was the experience I wanted. KD came through for me. I could never go to Avenue J again without eating there.
