Nice idea. And you don't have to worry about level of kashrut, suitability for the hosts' diet, etc.
I sometimes give several pretty hand towels for netilat yadaim (hand washing before bread). Now that a new shmittah year (agricultural fallow year observed every 7 years in Israel) has begun, giving flowers and some foods is going to be problematic, so I think I'll stick with the towel idea.
