The place just happened to be glatt, which I think most meat places are now a days in NJ that have an orthodox supervision. The person had no clue what glatt meant, they just knew pastrami was a typical"jewish" dish (their words, not mine), and ordered it without further analysis or directions. They were not pleased with what they got.
I agree, they probably would have been fine with something deep fried, I think they just didnt expect the meat to look the way it looked. Beats me...
