I haven't been for a few months, which can make a food review out of date since the Prime group changes chefs, menus with some frequency. But if the online menu http://www.bentleyhotelnyc.com/bentleyprime/menu.php is still accurate, they are keeping things pretty straightforward. A model they've had since they renovated the kitchen a few months after they opened. Great steak and happy food like sliders (their sliders are great) and popcorn chicken.
This makes sense. There is a very cool feeling to being in a glass box in the sky over Manhattan. So you go there for that feeling (and because the Rainbow Room doesn't have a hechscher). You go to the Bentley to have a few drinks, to party, to drink and eat with friends in a fun atmosphere, or to party late into the night motzei Shabbos.
As for a family celebration, I don't see why not. It's a great party space. Just, they are not aiming to cook "special dishes."
