I want to do a franks and beans casserole for shabbos July 5th. What blend of beans do you recommend using, and how to prepare this for serving on shabbos? I was thinking of using Navy beans soaked (ordinarily when it isn't for shabbos, I'd just use Bush's baked beans as my base), along with Jacks facon, onion, bbq sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, maple syrup, a little Tabasco, cider vinegar, and mustard, which is my go-to technique (I use a half package of facon in the beans and lay out the rest on top). What should I do with my franks in the mix? Mix them in or lay them on top? I'm just interested in doing this so that the beans cook fully but don't overcook. I'm using some franks I managed to order from Romanian.
To round out the meal, aside from the franks and beans, I'm doing potato salad, cornbread with onion jam and maple Earth Balance, cole slaw, homemade sweet tea, and watermelon, in order to keep with the July 4th theme.
