Check the labels. Regular contact paper is very adhesive, messy to remove (leaves a sticky residue). Con-Tact Brand Creative Covering Self-Adhesive Shelf Liner is intended for lining shelves, and can be taken off without damaging the shelf or leaving a residue. Cover a counter, and on the ninth day - you just pull it off. Which makes it great for counters. I also reline shelves, drawers with it every year, and it lasts all year.
