I understand that several of the Bucharan/Russian places in Queens are now under the Va'ad. Is is worth heading to Queens for the food? For the cultural (not exactly Litvish) ambiance?

I am a tad confused about what these places are like, I have heard that if you go motsi Shabbat or on a Sunday night (reservations required), they have one of their shows with neon, smoke machines, loud music... "like vegaas!"
Has anyone been? Is the food interesting? good? worth the journey?
and also Gabriel's in Rego Park, https://www.facebook.com/pages/Gabriels-Restaurant/136646289727939 described as "a hole in the wall place with no English menus, but has authentic traditional Russian fare"
