I like Walmart. When I go to the Catskills I go to the one in Monticello, when I go to Florida I go to the one in Coconut Creek however the one in Valley Stream NY (nearest to the 5 towns), Uch. Small selection shelves are sloppy so it is off my radar when I am in the 5 towns. However, this Black Friday I ordered an item online and chose ship-to-store and went today to pick it up. I figured I would then go to BJs after to pick up a few items. When I arrived at Walmart something looked different. National Home Liquidators which neighbored Walmart was not there and it simply said "Market". When I went into that entrance I saw that Walmart complete took over that store and possibly more and it was a completely different store. It was huge and very well stocked with produce. All the isles were hopping with workers stocking shelves. Prices on many items were excellent (hey, this is Walmart) and unlike Costco and BJs you were able to buy items in sensible sizes. Now mind you, Costco and BJs are excellent stores and still will serve me well but they are most useful for people with large families or bodega owners. Walmart is Americas supermarket and I see why.
I welcome Walmart as another shopping option however I am slightly annoyed that to shop effectively I must juggle between Brachs (kosher price leader), Gourmet Glatt for the items that Brachs does not carry or is out of stock, Costco, BJs and now Walmart.
America, what a country!
